Entrepreneurs Should Invest in the Whole Person Concept
Posted by: Investor In: Investment Basics
In today’s world, more and more people are moving into “Be Your Own Boss” direction. Messages like “You can retire young“, “Start your business & fire your boss now“, “God wants you to be rich“, “Earn USD while you sleeping“, “Passive income for life” and etc. are no longer strange to us. Everyday, we are bombarded with all kinds of $$$ Marketing messages from all kinds of media.
Please note that I’m not criticizing “Be Your Own Boss“ business concept. However, most entrepreneurs I encountered today, they put too much effort (focus) on “How to make more money” instead of “How to be a great entrepreneur“. If you know any entrepreneurs, just pay close attention to how they speak, write, and market their products/services; you will know whether he/she is a money orientated person or success orientated person.
There’s an old saying, money comes to us as by-product of success. To be a successful entrepreneur, thou shall not chase money. If we chase money, money runs away; But if we chase success, money will run after us and one day it catches us.
In my opinion, an ideal entrepreneur should practice the concept of a “Whole Person“. I learned this during my career as an Insurance agent. This is the ideal that an entrepreneur should be concerned and active in: business, religion, community, family and personal well being. This is about the business of working and living well.
Why entrepreneurs should invest to this ideal of a “Whole Person“? It is because of the Law of Nature that “As a man thinks in his heart so is he.” As Paul Hutsey puts it, “The me I see the me I will be.“ Therefore, by adopting this concept or ideal, entrepreneurs are holding the self-image of the “Whole Person“, the self-image of a successful entrepreneur.
Maxwell Maltz states the most important goal in a person’s performance or results in life – Nobody can out perform his own self-image. When a person set the goal to be a “Whole Person“, he/she will begin to see vast opportunities for actualising him/herself in the SIX important areas of his/her life:
Financial: Take time to work – it is the price of success.
Family: Take time to love and be loved – it is the gift of nature.
Mental: Take time to read and think – it is the fountain of wisdom and source of power.
Physical: Take time to play (exercise) – it is the secret to perpetual health.
Social: Take time to be friendly – it is the road to happiness.
Spiritual: Take time to pray – it is the greatest power in the universe.
If every entrepreneur willing to invest to this ideal, everyday they will have reasons to get up and be enthusiatic about their business of working and living well. Their thoughts, feelings, and actions will be dictated by this most important and wonderful life-goal that they hold in their hearts. Thus, they will experience true happiness which will reinforce their enthusiasm towards becoming a great entrepreneur.
